First Aid Duties

Public Duties
First aid and home nursing assistance is the primary work of the St. John Ambulance of Malaysia. Our members are trained in the latest first aid, life-saving and personal nursing care, and are involved in any functions and events to render first-aid. Some of these major events are the 16th Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998, Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA) and Second-Link Run. More than 60 of our ambulances also stationed at tolls along the North-South Highway during festival celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Thaipusam, Hari Raya and many more. Our presence at these events can be easily distinguished by our members in black and white uniform, and prompt in giving aid to the needy.
Highway Emergency Ambulance Service
This service was mooted by our Commander-in-Chief, Y.Bhg. Dato' Dr. Low Bin Tick, in 1996 in conjunction with the double festival celebration - Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri. In view of the increasing fatal accidents on major roads and the North-South Highway during these occasions, St. John members have been dispatched together with 30 ambulances during the week-long celebration to assist in any accidents. With support from various corporate bodies, St. John Ambulance of Malaysia is able to respond on time at the accident sites and bring relief to the casualties.
Every year since 1996, an increasing number of ambulances and members are despatched as part of St. John Ambulance of Malaysia's service to the people of Malaysia. We encourage individuals and corporate bodies to continue supporting us in our effort.
